The first thing that strikes me about this magazine cover is the dominant image of the joker. The producers have have used this image to entice its target audience, the body language of the joker show power. Another thing i noticed is the dominant image is a layer in front on the magazine name 'EMPIRE' this suggest the company Empire have done this to show they are already established and they dont feel they need the company name emphasised for everyone to see as people will already know who they are by just seeing a fragment of it. The main house colours of this magazine are black, green and white. the magazines strap-line is green with a black outline which makes this stand out. The puff is highlighted in bright green which also grabs your attention. At a squint you can note the date and price just overlapping the top layer of the jokers head, this is extremely small but still readable. Another stand out feature of this cover is the huge green '+' which indicates plus the following text (the cover-lines) are included is this magazine, this is used to give the audience an insight of what to expect in the magazine. The typeface is sans-serif.
